Indoor/Outdoor Program

Indoor/Outdoor Learning Experiences

At North Rocks Preschool and Long Day Care, the Indoor/Outdoor Program is a fundamental part of our curriculum.

Our program allows children to move freely between their indoor and outdoor learning environments based on their needs and interests. We want children to feel a sense of belonging and to learn where it best suits them.

In the outdoor learning environment, children are encouraged to connect with nature, explore their senses, and learn more about the world around them.

We believe that being outside is incredibly beneficial to children’s wellbeing and development.

Outdoor Learning Opportunities

Outdoor Learning Extensions

Our expansive outdoor play space also offers extensive opportunities for learning extensions.

Children’s learning indoors can often be translated into a hands-on outdoor learning activity.

Indoor learning experiences involving mathematics, volume, and measurement, can be expanded on outdoors through sandpit and water play.

Similarly, outdoor learning about plants, trees, and rocks, can be translated into loose parts activities inside the classroom.

We aim to make learning engaging and fun by maximising the learning in our indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
